The Faculty of Science & Technology (Technische Natuurwetenschappen, TNW) engages some 700 staff members and 2000 students in education and research on the cutting edge of chemical technology, applied physics and biomedical technology. Our fields of application include sustainable energy, process technology and materials science, nanotechnology and technical medicine. Job description

 In general, the Research Policy Officer will contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the Faculty’s research policy. This concerns, for instance, the following aspects:

  • Research cluster development, including aligning cluster research plans with the Faculty research plan
  • Prepare vision, strategy and policy documents (including domain plan) on research, together with the Vice dean Research
  • Liaison with the university’s strategic business development (SBD) and Strategy and Policy (SP) departments
  • Moderate research initiatives between the faculty of Science & Technology and the UT institutes Techmed, MESA+ and DSI.
  • Help formulating a clear vision on talent management, including the coordination of prizes and awards (in collaboration with the Vice dean Research and the research groups)
  • Coordinate and create awareness for Research Data Management, research integrity and open science within the Faculty
  • Coordinate Personal grants proposal submissions (in collaboration with the Grants Office and research clusters)
  • Coordinate the organization of research evaluations according to the new Standard Evaluation Protocol.

Your expertise and performance make you a credible and convincing discussion partner for the Faculty Board and the research clusters. You support the Vice dean Research of the Faculty Board on a daily basis. You maintain a wide range of internal and external contacts.

Profile

  • Academic level
  • Familiarity/experience with the university organization (not per sé UT)
  • Curiosity for the research landscape of the faculty and for external
  • influences and developments
  • Good sense for the mindset and atmosphere in the research departments of the faculty
  • Excellent writing skills in Dutch and English (writing principle: less is more)
  • You have political / strategic insight and sensitivity in a university context.
  • You work from a clear vision and you are pragmatic and flexible in achieving your goals.

We offer

We offer you a challenging position within a dynamic working environment with an informal working atmosphere. The size of the position is 32 to 38 hours per week. The position is for a period of 2 years, with the possibility of extension. Salary indication from € 3.746,00 to € 5.826,00, depending on your education and experience. The employment conditions are in accordance with the CAO NU.
